Located in the heart of Mandalay, just a 5 minute walk from Mandalay’s Royal Palace and moat, the Bagan King Hotel may look a little un-inspiring from the outside, but as you step into the teak floored lobby with its ornate gold-leaf ceiling and traditionally dressed staff, you feel a sense of place.
Bagan King is a unique and romatic, traditional style of six-storey building. Traditional dark wood furnishings also dominate the guest room interiors, with décor inspired by local Mandalay handicrafts: wood carvings, bronze casting and rich tapestry. Modern amenities are provided in the form of satellite TV and contemporary style bathrooms. Head up to the top floor, and the city views from the semi-open air restaurant and bar are almost as impressive as the mural-covered ceiling, bell-shaped bronze chandeliers and delicately carved wooden panelling in the interior design.
A short step away from the famous moated walls of the last kingdom of Myanmar, the hotel is placed at a highly convenient spot within easy reach of major sights – tourist attractions, old-style street markets, teashops, modern shopping malls and all.
